Located east of the city center and near the Sanlitun neighborhood, Chaoyang Park is the largest park in Beijing. It sits nestled between both residential complexes and large commercial zones. The park includes water, entertainment, wildlife, leaser and sporting events. The new subway line 14 will have two stations connecting to the main south entrance and the smaller west entrances.
The southern entrance is the main entrance into the park. Sporting centers, entertainment parks, and water activities are adjoining. Families come to this side of the park for entertainment during nice weather and hot summer days.
There is a procession of emotion as a family anticipates their journey to the park. A calmness of first making plans to go, the anticipation building on the journey towards the park and the explosion of excitement as at the park’s entrance. These three emotions are represented in the movement of color and pattern layered together on the glass façade along with the gradual sloping of the structure towards the entrance.
